Lincoln City sign 22-year-old former-Manchester United right back

The full-back will compete with Spurs-loanee TJ Eyoma for the first team spot

Lincoln City have made their first permanent signing of the January transfer window, days before it shuts.

Right back Regan Poole has signed for the Imps from fellow League One side MK Dons for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old will provide competition for Spurs-loanee TJ Eyoma, who has held the full-back role for the season so far, with Lincoln looking to sell their other right back Aaron Lewis.

Poole, who has made 23 appearances for the Wales U21s and has been called up to the senior squad, was signed by Premier League side Manchester United in September 2015.

The full-back then went out on loan to Northampton Town and Newport County, before permanently switching to MK Dons in 2019, where he made over 50 appearances.

Poole said: “I am delighted, the club play lovely football and it is a project I wanted to be a part of.

“I can play in a number of positions, I like to play forward from the back and the football the manager plays suits me, I am really excited to get going. I want to get playing and help the club do well.”

Meanwhile, Lincoln manager Michael Appleton said: “I am delighted to bring Regan to Lincoln City.

“He’s a talented young player who again gives us options but ticks a lot of boxes in what we are looking for, he’s a very athletic player and someone who is comfortable on the ball.

“At 22-years-old, Regan has plenty of room to improve even further, and I am really looking forward to working with him.”

The Imps are in action this afternoon as they take on League One promotion rivals Doncaster Rovers.

Lincoln City will be looking to maintain a six-match unbeaten league streak and remain first in Sky Bet League One.
