Lincoln Drill Hall have said they are confident they will reach their £130,000 fundraising goal to prevent the venue from shutting down.

The ‘Be a Brick’ campaign was launched earlier this year and involves people sponsoring a virtual brick from £10 a year and engraving a message to someone, as part of the plans to keep one of Lincoln’s central entertainment hubs open.

They say that funding cuts are the main reason for the venue’s possible closure and are facing a difficult calendar year ahead.

Lincoln Drill Hall receives most of its money from ticket sales for their events and until 2010, was run by the City of Lincoln Council.

The venue is one of the city’s oldest and most recognised buildings having been established over a century ago, hosting bands and comedians such as the Buzzcocks and Russell Howard respectively.

However, with competition from places such as the Engine Shed and New Theatre Royal, as well as a lack of money being placed into the hall, it will close unless it reaches its goal of £130,000.

The ‘Be a Brick’ campaign started in January and has raised £8,450 so far. To find out more and donate, visit: https://www.lincolndrillhall.com/be-a-brick/
