The Lincoln Knights’ Trail statues were revealed last night at The Showroom on Tritton Road.
This unveiling was done to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Lincoln and the sealing of the Charter of the Forest by King Henry III in 1217.
There are 36 knights as part of this collection which will form a trail through Lincoln between May 20 and September 3.
Each statue is hand painted separately by independent artists in Lincoln and will be placed throughout the city centre in a few months time.
A new statue was also introduced last night painted in the style of Lincoln City F.C. to celebrate them reaching the FA cup quarter finals.
After the trail is over, the sculptures will be sold at auction where the money raised will be used to help build a new homeless shelter by the Nomad Trust.
Organised by Lincoln BIG and Visit Lincoln, they hope this trail will promote both the city and its history in an attempt to increase tourism.
Chief Executive for Lincoln BIG, Matt Corrigan, said: “I think it’s really important to Lincoln, I think it’s a really important piece of the city’s history, it’s really a turning point in terms of the history of this county.”
