Thomas Dunning, 28, was diagnosed with PTSD, social anxiety and borderline personality disorder after suffering severe bullying in his childhood and the death of his brother in 2009.

The mechanical engineer tried to end his life twice on the same day before seeking help.

His wife, Amber, became his carer and attended regular group sessions alongside Thomas for those diagnosed with similar conditions.

He said: “I was quite unwell with my mental illnesses. I really enjoyed running when I was 18 so my wife suggested running again.

“I fell in love and the passion exploded. I even ran the London Marathon this year”.

Alongside Pure Gym personal trainer Mark Watson, Thomas brought the nationwide initiative, Run Talk Run, to Lincoln.

The programme offers people the chance to receive support in a safe and more accessible environment.

The group meet every Tuesday at 6:45pm in Dean’s Sport and Leisure on Monks Road.
