The new look castle celebrated its one year anniversary Friday and since then it has seen 270,000 people walk through its gates.
Funded by Lincolnshire County council, the Heritage Lottery and private donations, the work began in 2010 with the hope to restore the grounds and attract new visitors.
The project came in the shape of a Medieval Wall Walk, a new Magna Carta Vault and improvements to the existing Victorian prison
Since its opening it has received nothing but positive reviews, Mary Powell, Tourism Development Manager at Lincolnshire County Council said: “We can hardly believe what a successful year we’ve had because although we knew the works were the right thing to do, we didn’t know if the public would come out and and have a look at what we’ve done and they have. visitor figures have been way above what we predicted they would be, so were absolutely thrilled.
