Thousands of students at the University of Lincoln are outraged at the newly announced plans for graduation.
In a recent email, the university announced its proposal for two different ceremonies after having to postpone last years due to coronavirus restrictions. Graduates will have the opportunity to celebrate online in September but those wanting an in-person graduation will have to wait until April 2022.
Just two hours after the email was sent, recent graduate Harry Badman created a petition demanding the plans be changed.
Badman questioned the decision, saying, “Why can festivals like Reading and Leeds go ahead but a graduation where you can control the number of people and where they sit can’t?”
The school heads defended their decision by saying: “We are trying to make the best decisions that we can for the safety of our students, their families and the City of Lincoln.”
