The University Of Lincoln women’s football and rugby teams will face each other in a game of two halves tonight.

The teams will play half of the game as a football match followed by half with touch rugby rules.

The game will be played to raise money and awareness for local dementia charity, Golf in Society.

The charity supports people with Dementia and Parkinson’s and those who care for them. They do this through golf lessons. Golf has been shown to mentally stimulate individuals and whilst they play, it gives their carers a bit of rest bite. The charity is at Lincoln Golf Centre and the sessions run on a Thursday from 10am.

This is the third year the competition has run and the football team have come away from the past two events victorious. Hayley Moxom, the University of Lincoln Women’s Football President, said: “Everyone is super excited as we feel that it’s going to be a close contest but football will come out on top”.

Laura Gregory, the University of Lincoln Women’s Rugby Vice President, said: “Football are hoping to retain their title as they have won for both previous years, but we, the rugby girls, are coming out fighting this year”.

The event will take place at the University of Lincoln astroturf from 5 to 7pm tonight. It will cost £2 to watch, with all proceeds going to charity.
