At just eight years old Ethan Maull was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer.

Two years ago he set up a foundation called ‘Up Yours to Cancer’ to help poorly children and support families which travel long distances for their child’s treatment.

He has been undergoing chemotherapy since early 2013 and has seen the effects cancer can have on children and families, including the financial burden.

Ethan’s Charity helps to raise money for Billy’s House near Nottingham Children’s Hospital, which is a place where families can stay while their children are having prolonged treatment.

Tomorrow afternoon Evolution Gym on Whisby Road, Lincoln will be hosting a Charity Deadlift called ‘Lincoln’s Strongest’. Registration begins at 12pm while the competition itself beings at 2pm.

Dave Johnson event organiser and Richard Patrick co-owner of Evolution Gym.

All proceeds will go to charity and there will be three main events such as Lincoln’s Strongest Deadlift.

The competitors will be weighed and split into three categories, heavyweight, middleweight and lightweight. Ladies can participate as there will be a separate category for them.

There will be also a Tyre Flipping competition. The winner will be the person who can consecutively flip the most tyres.

The winners will receive medals and the heavyweight champion will receive £100 cash prize.

The event is open to everyone and the first fifty people to register will get a free printed T-shirt.  For spectators there will be a £2 charge. However, there will be a BBQ lit as from 12pm and drinks will be available throughout the event.

For those taking part in the event there will be a £10 registration fee.

Raffle Tickets are currently available from Performance Foods on Lincoln High Street and Evolution Gym. There are 12 prizes including a Body Transformation Package worth £250 and a convertible Audi for the weekend.  Tickets cost £10 a strip or £3.50 per ticket.
