This year, the Lincoln Christmas light switch will take place on Friday at not one, not two, but three locations.

These are: the High Street, St Mark’s shopping centre, and the Waterside shopping centre.

Entertainment on the High Street will start from 5.30pm with Lincs FM radio presenter Eddie Shaw playing music from The Salvation Army Band.

Later, at 6.40pm, The Mayor of Lincoln will lead a parade of panto stars Barney Harwood, Amelia Lily, and Chris Johnson, from the Guildhall to the High Street, before they switch on the lights at 7pm.

At St Mark’s shopping centre, the festivities will begin earlier than the High Street at 4.45pm, when the public can enjoy performances from tribute acts to Arianne Grande and Charlie Russell, who won Lincs FM’s Unplugged Live 2018.

The Christmas lights will be switched on at 6.30pm.

The Waterside shopping centre will start their entertainment at 6pm, hosted by another Lincs FM presenter, Rob Hammond, and visitors will get the chance to interview Santa as well.

The lights switch on for Waterside will be the latest of all of them, at 7.45pm, however this will be followed by a chance to meet the panto stars and get their autographs.

Attendance at the event is free and there are several places for people to park across the city.

Not only that, but shops will be open until at least 8pm so that guests can do some shopping while immersing themselves in the Christmas cheer.
