Lincolnshire charity Hurricane Sports improving local sport participation

Following the success of Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics, Gary Johnson formed the charity Hurricane Sports.

CEO Gary Johnson (centre) and the Hurricane Sports coaches conduct a hockey camp in Lincoln.

The charity aims to promote a healthy lifestyle for all ages across Lincolnshire, by getting people active and involved in a variety of sports.

According to England Hockey, there has been a 23% increase in hockey participation levels since London 2012, with the work of charities such as Hurricane Sports, pivotal in the rising involvement.

Visiting clubs and local schools in Lincolnshire to get people involved in their sports camps, Hurricane expose a wide range of age groups to several less mainstream sports.

LSJ Sport spoke to Hurricane Sports CEO Gary Johnson at a hockey camp being held at Lindum Hockey club, the largest junior hockey base in Lincolnshire.
