Active Lincolnshire will host their 16th annual awards ceremony online this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The event will take place on November 12 at 7pm and will be available to watch live on Active Lincolnshire’s YouTube channel.

The Lincolnshire Sport and Physical Activity awards usually highlight individual sporting achievements and successes across the county.

However, this year’s awards will be focused on the sporting community and how the nominees have gone above and beyond to help others during the pandemic.

Event host and former Olympic gymnast, Craig Heap, said: “It can’t be the same as all being in one room and having a sit-down dinner.

“But everyone is dressing up and pulling out all the stops to make it the best that they can and make it feel as special for the winners that are being recognised.”

Eleven awards in total are up for grabs this year. Here are the different categories:

Nearly 250 public nominations were received for all categories and a judging panel has narrowed each category down to a top three.

A winner will then be decided from each category to receive their award during the online ceremony.

Donna Sutton, Project Team member for Active Lincolnshire said: “Many people have benefitted from the services and support that has been offered by our nominees to the community.

“It would be wonderful if those who have accessed these services could show their appreciation by contributing to our crowdfunding target.”
