Lincolnshire sports awards honours county’s best

BBC sports broadcaster, John Inverdale, was helping to celebrate the best of the county’s sports people as part of the Lincolnshire Sports Awards.

The big winner from Thursday’s event was Richard Sargent who won Young Disabled Sportsperson of the year and Lincolnshire Sports Personality. The 18-year-old sounded very humble when he received his award and spoke about the importance of winning these awards to City Vibe’s Lisa Denholm.

On the night there were several winners in a variety of categories, and one of the most passionate was Anthony Smith who was made Veteran Sportsperson of the Year.

John Inverdale was not only providing banter for the awards ceremony but also celebrating BBC Lincolnshire’s 30th birthday, which is one of Inverdale’s old stomping grounds. He was also impressed with the amount and the quality of sporting talent that the county has.
