A Lincoln charity that supports new mums and their babies has announced it is to help its 1000th family.

Baby’s Basket provide new families with care packages designed to help expectant parents prepare for their new arrivals.

Every basket is made on demand, with every baby receiving a wardrobe tailored just to them.

Filled with everyday essentials such as clothing, nappies and bedding, each basket is assembled and gift-wrapped before being delivered to families in need across the county.

Since their founding in September 2015, the team relies on local fundraising, handmade blankets and donations of gently-used goods.

As the charity approaches its landmark basket, founders Anne and Ed Jones say they are extremely grateful to all of the volunteers and contributors that have supported them over the last five years.

Every item of clothing is hand-picked, washed and ironed before going into their basket. Pictured: Sally Graves (top) and Anne Jones (bottom)

Anne says “Everything we do is all down to the generosity of our donors.”

“It’s a huge community effort and we really could not have done it without everyone else.”

While they are pleased with the charity’s success, they describe the feeling as “bittersweet”.

Disheartened by the necessity of their service, Anne says that nothing would make them happier than “not being needed anymore.”
