Local referee talks respect

Is enough being done to get more respect for football referees? That’s the questions the Respect Campaign looks to answer.

Local referee, Leslie Abbott has quit senior football after three decades and now works with youngsters.

“99.9% of them” he says, “are very good. I’ve not had any problems.”

He believes that responsibility is with the top players: “Once these players in Premiership football stop having a go in the referees face, I think it’ll filter down”.
