LPAC to host international film festival this weekend

Indie Lincs is taking place this weekend

Lincoln Performing Arts Centre is celebrating independent films from all over the world with two day festival ‘Indie-Lincs’, between 15 and 16 February.

The event sponsored by BFI Film Audience Network, and in collaboration with the Lincoln School of Film & Media and Lincoln Film Society, will feature over 40 film screenings, film maker Q&A’s, networking events and add on special events.

The 2019 team has included students from the University of Lincoln

Mikey Murray, owner of the festival, told LSJ News:

“Indie-Lincs international film festival is a unique event for Lincoln.

“It gives the local residents a chance to see the type of independent world cinema that they would not normally get a chance to see, and we are very proud to be sponsored by BFI Network and the National Lottery.

“Film-makers will be attending from all over the UK and Europe to showcase their brilliant film work, and the atmosphere at the festival is usually buzzing.”

Now moving into its 4th year, the festival costs £10 for a day pass and £15 for a weekend pass, and for students and concessions, it costs £5 a day and £8 for the weekend.

The festival, that is described to ‘award low and micro budget films and film makers’, has included members of Lincoln School of Film & Media and Lincoln Film Society.

Lucy Hansard and Ryan Hardy, senior co-ordinators of Indie-Lincs told LSJ News:

“Being part of Indie-Lincs film festival is such an incredible experience. Meeting with filmmakers from all over the world is so exciting as it always creates such a great atmosphere during the festival.

Preparing for a film festival is a tense process, lots of days of work go into preparing only a few hours of content. It’s a thorough process but worth it to support such an important festival.”

The event is running from 9:30am on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16.

There is an offer of 20 per cent off all pre booked tickets via the LPAC website until 14 February.
