Here is a quick update on today’s top stories.

Lincolnshire has been ranked one of the safest counties in England and Wales, according recent statistics.

The county was ranked as the fifth lowest in overall crime levels in a report by the Office for National Statistics, however there has been a rise in the number of crimes committed in Lincolnshire.

Chief Constable Bill Skelly said: “We work hard in Lincolnshire Police to make sure we do all we can so that the residents of this county have somewhere safe and enjoyable in which to live and work.   It’s encouraging to see that we are so low on the national tables in terms of crime rates and we’ll strive to make sure this remains the case.”

The Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service are offering grants of up to £10,000 for projects that will help conserve and enhance the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Councillor Colin Davie, executive member for economy and place , said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for people further enhance our beautiful county in all sorts of ways. We look forward to receiving applications and getting what will undoubtedly be some valuable projects up and running.”

Today has been a fairly warm day today, with the sun shinning for most of it. Unfortunately tomorrow will see the skies darken and heavy rain for most of the day.
