Lincoln City manager, Steve Tilson has confirmed that the shoulder injury sustained by Danny Hone in Tuesday’s defeat at Port Vale is not as bad as first feared.

Early signs suggested that Hone (21) could be facing a spell on the sidelines after falling awkwardly in the League Two clash, but those initial fears have now been dampened.

The Imps academy product has been a mainstay in the City side since returning from a loan spell with Blue Square Premier side, Darlington, earlier in the campaign and has impressed many with a series of accomplished performances at the heart of the defence.

Tilson said that the injury wasn’t of the same severity as the shoulder dislocation that ended Delroy Facey’s season:

“It hasn’t come out like Del’s (Delroy Facey), but he has fallen awkwardly on it,” he said. “I don’t think it’s as bad as we first thought, and touch wood he will be fine for Saturday.”

The news comes as a boost for a Lincoln City side that has been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks. Long term absentees, Delroy Facey and Luke Howell, have been joined on the sidelines recently by the influential duo of Ashley Grimes and Stephen Hunt. Both players missed the trip to Staffordshire on Tuesday and are facing a race against time to be fit for Saturdays’s clash with Torquay United at Plainmoor.

Meanwhile, current Portsmouth loanee, Tom Kilbey, could be set for an extended stay with the Imps at the end of the season.

The South coast club have confirmed today that they will not be renewing the 20-year-old’s contract when it is expires this summer, leaving him free to search for another club.

City could face a lot of competition for the midfielder’s signature, but would be considered to be in pole position should they wish to make an approach to lure him to Sincil Bank on a permanent basis.
