Lincoln City have secured their League status for next season after defeating Bury.

The Imps won the tie 1-0 with a second half goal from loan signing Davide Somma.

The first half was a quiet one, with the visitors having the better chances. Andy Morrel’s shot, the best of them, tipped over by Imps keeper Rob Burch

Somma was frustrated in the first half as he was not offered the best service from his team mates.

Debutant David Stephens had an excellent first game at the back, and will be a promising player for Manager Chris Sutton next season.

Bury had the larger amount of possession and chances but Lincoln held on.

The goal came on 80 minutes when Somma was found by Clark Keltie and coolly finished past Bury stopper Cameron Belford.

The Imps can relax now they know they’re safe and have two tough remaining games against Aldershot and Macclesfield.

Sutton can look to build his side for the next campaign and signing Somma on a permanent deal will be top of his list.
