For those with a mental health problem, it is a horrible ordeal that no one should go through.
But there are those on the fringes of mental health that often get ignored. Living and caring for someone with a mental health problem can be extremely draining and difficult.
With all the support provided for those dealing with mental health, there is little support provided for those on the edges.
Charities and organisations do offer some counselling and support for families but it is all voluntarily run and do lack funding. NHS clinics have therapy sessions for those dealing with a mental health problem but there is no support on the NHS for families.
Those caring for someone go through a great deal of physical and emotional stress, and it can be just as damaging. It can lead to an unhealthy amount of stress and pressure that can cause health problems of their own.
Luke Coveney has a report on mental health, The other side.
