A new website has been created that shows what it is like to have dyslexia.
Victor Widdell created the website after a friend had attempted to describe what it is like living with the condition. The Swedish web developer felt it would be important for others to understand what problems those who suffer from dyslexia incur on a daily basis.
Dyslexia affects 1 in 10 people in the UK and the new website gives others an insight into the problems that come with the common learning difficulty.
Iona Garcia, a third year student from the University of Lincoln, suffers from the condition and said that: “Reading used to be a major issue until I learnt methods on how to read.”
The PR student went on to say: “The English language can be quite complicated, having to break down words was a big thing, an example of that is that the words sometimes move around and you sometimes skip smaller words when you read.”
The website uses an animated JavaScript which means that the letters jump around on screen. Although not all people that have dyslexia suffer from the same symptoms, the new website now gives others the opportunity to appreciate just some of the complications that dyslexic people struggle with every day.
