Preparations for the Boston Marathon are underway as the annual event will take place later this month.

The event, which starts at Boston Market Place and finishes at Boston College, is in its 6th year of running and attracts thousands of people each and every year.

Mike Sharp, events organiser for the Marathon, said “This really is a great event because so many people are interested in and we get a range of different runners whether they are local or out of town, children or adults.

“It definitely encompasses what Boston is all about and I think it’s an event that everyone looks forward to because it keeps them fit and active and gives them a real sense of achievement no matter how much they run.

“We encourage people of all ages, genders and disabilities to take part and this year, it will be bigger and better than ever.”

The Boston Marathon will take place on Sunday 15th April at 9am, with many people across the UK, including Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham, taking part.

It becomes part of the many different marathons taking place across Lincolnshire over the summer months with Lincoln and Skegness hosting running events later this year.
