A proposed 55% increase in pitch fees could see some amateur football clubs in Lincoln being forced to close.
Lincoln City Council are set to increase the amount of pitch rental from £292.50 to £450. The 55% raise could see some clubs in danger of closure as they can’t afford to stump up the money.
According to the council, these changes are to accommodate VAT charges which were previously left off the cost of hire. Despite the raise in prices, Lincoln will still have the second lowest charge in the country.
The changes were given the go-ahead on Tuesday but will now face a full council vote on April 20th to determine whether the plan will be enforced.
