Boultham Park is to be given a new lease of life by acclaimed company, LDA Design in a £3.7 million project.
The company, which is behind projects such as the Battersea Power Station and London’s Olympic Park will oversee the restoration of the 50-acre park including repairs to the bandstand and fountain as well as dredging the lake and building a new café, glasshouse and education centre.
This £3.7 million project is possible due to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund as well as funding from the City of Lincoln Council and the Linkage Community Trust.
The development will take place over the next five years.
John Pye, chairman of the Boultham Park advisory group says there is “lots of progress.”
As a result of the development, the park is also able to begin organising the Boultham Park Music and Arts Festival, an event which ran for four years from 2001 to 2005.
“What personally pleases me is that we have just made plans to reintroduce the festival,” says Mr. Pye, adding that they are “starting small but it will be a very interesting time.”
The music and arts festival will take place on Saturday June 13th 2015.
