Rush Hockey is a new initiative from England Hockey as they try to follow the likes of football, rugby and cricket to make a short version of the game.
Twenty20 cricket has revolutionised the sport of cricket and England Hockey are hoping that rush hockey can do the same. The sport uses the same sticks but only five players per team. It also features a bigger and lighter ball as well as significantly smaller goals. The aim of the sport is to get a fast flowing game where the skills of passing and teamwork are paramount.
Lincoln Roses Hockey Club are one of only a handful of clubs to be given the funding to hold these new sessions. The sessions take place on a Tuesday at Christs Hospital School, costing just £2.
