Secondary schools to receive free sanitary products from government funding

In his 2019 Spring Statement, Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond revealed that government funding will provide free sanitary products to secondary schools across the UK.

Amika George, who founded the Free Period charity, started to campaign against Period Poverty in 2017, and brought a petition to Parliament.

While it isn’t legislation, it is a big step forward to end period poverty.
