This Saturday Lincoln Castle is hosting a morning dance in the castle grounds to celebrate Earth Day – a global event where people come together raise awareness of climate change.
The Dance for Earth Day event is funded by The Wild Escape and supported by the charity, Art Fund.
Anita Fox, organiser of the Earth Day event, said: “We wanted to do something before the event at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The dance event is something completely new for the castle. I’m excited about it.”
Following the event at the castle, which is a silent disco from 8.45am to 9.30am, the Museum of Lincolnshire Life will open at 10am and host a range of stalls and activities in the name of Earth Day. It will end at 3:30pm and is free to attend.
There will music, Morris dancing, wood turning, stallholders from local environmental groups and pottery making for a small fee.
Jenny Waldman, director of the Art Fund, said: “Dance Free for Earth Day is part of The Wild Escape, the largest ever collaboration between the UK’s museums. The project aims to inspire hundreds of thousands of children to visit museums and respond creatively to the threat to the UK’s natural environment.”
There have been several Earth Day events across Lincoln including an earth hour lantern event at Boultham Park at the end of last month. Thousands of people take part in Earth Day – the world’s largest environmental movement.
