Dubai Tennis Championships

Venus Williams has made it through to the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships.

She beat Israeli Sharhar Peer in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4 and will now defend her championship in Saturday’s final.

Peer has had to play all of her matches with a high security presence, due to the political unrest a result of the murder of a Hamas leader in Dubai last month.

Meanwhile, the men’s part of the tournament will begin on Monday, featuring the British number one Andy Murray.

OOH Lincoln Ladies

OOH Lincoln Ladies are hoping to leapfrog Manchester City into third in the Northern Premiership League on when they travel to Flixton on Sunday.

Manager Rod Wilson is hoping that a win this weekend will take his side closer to Leicester, who are currently in second place.

However, he’s not expecting an easy game against City, and thinks the best way to break them will be to take early chances in the hope it will make them vulnerable.

 Premiership Matches

Wayne Rooney will return to Gooderson Park tomorrow as Manchester United take on Everton.

Rooney is in blistering form at the moment, especially after scoring two goals for Man United against AC Milan on Tuesday night.

Other Premiership clashes this weekend include Arsenal and Sunderland on Saturday, meanwhile on Sunday Manchester City and Liverpool collide.

Chelsea captain John Terry is also expected to return to the starting line up for their match against Wolverhampton, after being given compassionate leave to work on his marriage crisis.

However, Chelsea boss Carlo Anchelotti will be without seven players this weekend, including Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Michael Essien.
