The Lincoln Knights Trail will be unveiled at The Showroom on Tritton Road on Monday 27 March.
The trail will celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Lincoln and the sealing of the Charter of the Forest.
It’s hoped to be even bigger than the 2015 Baron trail with 10 more sculptures, and will feature both male and female designs.
The knights will form a trail across Lincoln to create a fun, free journey of discovery during the summer months and it’s hoped that it will boost the local economy.
The trail will run from the 20th May until the 3rd September and will feature 36 sculptures across Lincoln city centre.
The sculptures were created in the style of a chess piece and represent the two main figures of the 1217 Battle of Lincoln – Nicola de la Haye (Custodian of Lincoln Castle) and William Marshall (Regent to the young King Henry III).
Many of the knights’ designs have been painted in public tourist areas in the county such as Daisy Made in Skellingthorpe and Ruddocks of Lincoln.
The Lincoln Knights trail has also introduced an education programme which was sponsored by waterside shopping centre in March. The education trail, organised by the EBP in partnership with Wild in Art and Lincoln BIG, will involve over 40 schools from across the county. Each school has until June to decorate their very own half-sized knight sculpture.
