Women’s football has had a turbulent history, from record attendances to bans and the restructure of leagues.

The Women’s Super League is now in its first full season after going through a rebrand, now with 11 full-time professional teams. Previously teams were not required to be professional and often players had separate jobs alongside competing at the highest level of football in England.

The game is now in a period of growth and change and with the World Cup approaching in June it can only improve further.
