THOR’s Tipi Bar, in Lincoln city centre, is to host a charity evening for St Barnabas Hospice on 20th November with all proceeds from the sale of Mulled Wine and Beer going towards the hospice.
Now in its second year, the pop-up bar is a well-known place for people to dwell and soak up the festive atmosphere on offer in Lincoln.
Explaining how the hospice got involved with the bar company, Caroline Swindin from St Barnabas Hospice said: “We’ve had numerous conversations with them to explore different ways of working together and they very kindly came back and said they’d be happy to host an evening where the proceeds would go to support hospice care in the area.”
This kind of event is new to St Barnabas, as not only will it allow them to raise vital funds for the charity, Swindin said: “It will also allow us to spread the awareness to a different audience about the really important work we do, our aim is to support as many people in Lincolnshire with a life limiting or terminal illness as we can.”
The pop-up bar chain says that they are going to donate £3 from every mulled wine, and £2 from every beer sold between 5:00pm and 10:00pm on the day of the event.
Maria Farrugia, Co-Founder of THOR’s Tipi Bar said that it is, “really nice to join forces with St Barnabas Hospice.” Adding that the charity was keen to get involved last year but approached the bar-chain too late in the season to get anything organised.
The pop-up bar chain, which has six locations in cities around the UK, opened a week earlier compared to last year, they say that they’ve had about 6,000 people through their doors since they opened on 14th November.
Farrugia explained that supporting charities is a big part of how the bar chain operates, the company tries to associate themselves with a charity in each of their locations, she said: “I would like to think that St Barnabas Hospice Lincoln is now our chosen charity for Lincoln and it’s definitely a worthwhile cause, we hope we raise lots and lots of money tomorrow night”.
St Barnabas Hospice has an annual fundraising target of £5.5m and this event is just one of the many that happen throughout the year which not only raise money, but also raise the profile of the charity in the eyes of people in the county. The charity says they are “confident” they will reach their fundraising target.
Both THOR’s Tipi Bar and St Barnabas Hospice are urging people to come and join in with the celebrations to help raise money to support people in Lincolnshire with life limiting or terminal illnesses.
