Top 5 Champions League Finals of the Last 20 Years

With Liverpool and Real Madrid set to meet in Kiev at the end of the month for the 2018 Champions League final, we take a look back at the 5 best finals from the last 20 years.

Without further ado here they are.

5- Barcelona 2-1 Arsenal (2005/06)

After 22 years in charge, this was Arsene Wenger’s only Champions League final. And it didn’t have a happy ending.

This was also the first European final to have a red card shown when Jens Lehmann was dismissed early for a challenge on Samuel Eto’o.

4- Barcelona 3-1 Manchester United (2010/11)

United were seeking redemption for their 2009 Champions League final defeat to the Catalan club.

Instead tiki-taka football demolished the English champions under the Wembley arch.

3- Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea : Man UTD win 6-5 on penalties (2007/08)

The top 2 teams in England that season met on a rainy night in Moscow. They couldn’t be separated after 120 minutes and the final would b decided on penalties.

Mr Chelsea had the chance to step up and lift them to their first European title… whoops!

2- Manchester United 2-1 Bayern Munich (1998/99)

The German giants were winning when the game went to injury time. Then United turned the game on its head when Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjær both found the back of the net.

One of the greatest ever comebacks in a European final. Oh hang on, we might have better one.

1- Liverpool 3-3 AC Milan : Liverpool win 3-2 on penalties (2004/05)

Yes, it goes with out saying really, simply one of the greatest football matches ever. Do yourself a favour and watch the highlights if your memory needs refreshing!
