Residents and visitors are being asked to vote for their favourite buildings in the city ahead of Lincoln’s first design awards.
Voting is now open for Lincoln Good Design Awards and planners from the City of Lincoln Council have drawn up a long-list of schemes approved by the council.
A small panel of experts from the Civic Trust and the University of Lincoln have narrowed down the candidates to three per category, based on the criteria of innovation, sustainability and architectural and conceptual ambition.
Councillor Jim Hanrahan, Chair of the City of Lincoln Council Planning Committee, said: “We wanted to hear more of what the public thought were actually good designs so that we can encourage architects to latch on to the idea that they can be creative whilst recognising the historic significance of many of the buildings in Lincoln.
“The idea is to stimulate interest in design and to recognise good, innovative and quality designs that fits into the townscape.”
The winner of each category will receive an award from the council and an overall winner will be chosen by Councillor Hanrahan from the winners of each category.
Voting closes on January 27 and the winners will be announced at a ceremony at Lincoln Guildhall on the February 22.
