Easter is fast approaching, the kids are breaking up from school, the shop windows are filled with pastel eggs, chicks and rabbits and everyone’s tummies are grumbling in anticipation of the mountain of chocolate eggs to come.

With children needing entertaining everyday for two weeks, the need to out do your Easter lunch from last year and panicked last minute shopping for Easter eggs it can be just as stressful as Christmas!

But never fear, we have got you covered. Look no further to get the low down on everything you need to have the perfect Easter, right on your door step here in Lincoln.

Easter events
Kick off Easter with a trip to Lincoln Castle for their annual Easter spectacular. This year the theme is the fairy tale classic Alice in Wonderland. From an Easter quest to flamingo croquet, a mad hatters tea party and the chance to see the very first copy of the age old book there is something for everyone. Lincoln Cathedral will also be holding events throughout Easter including Easter services and a concert with the Lincoln Cathedral Choir.

Don’t fancy trekking up steep hill? Well head to St Marks Shopping Centre on April 20 for a day of Easter fun. There will be Easter egg hunts, giveaways and even an appearance from the Easter bunny himself.

For the creative people out there head to The Collection’s Artisan Market on Sunday April 21. The event will have over 20 stalls offering handmade goodies from local businesses as well as craft demonstrations, face painting, crafts and egg hunts for the kids and live music in the cafe. Lincoln central Library are also holding a day of Easter crafts on Saturday April 20.

Why not round off the Easter holidays with a trip to the theatre to see the feel good classic Legally Blonde. University of Lincoln’s Musical Theatre Society will be taking to the stage with the American hit show on April 26 and 27. With their previous shows being described as “Really enjoyable and uplifting” and “Really professional, just like being at the West End” it is set to be a success.

Easter egg hunts
There are many Easter egg hunts going on around Lincoln throughout the holidays, here is our round up of the best in and around Lincoln.

Hartsholme Country Park are holding Easter egg hunts over the Easter Weekend. Entry is £3.50 and the hunts will be running between 12:00-15:00.

Bransby Horses are holding daily Easter egg hunts at 10:00 throughout the Easter holidays.

Dodington Hall reopens its doors after the Winter closure this week and will hold an Easter egg hunt around the gardens. Tickets are £3.50 for children and £7 for adults.

Lincoln’s MS centre will also be holding an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 13 at their centre on Circle Drive. Have a funfilled easter day out while helping a worthy cause.

Easter for the adults
After a long day of egg hunting with the kids, Mum and Dad deserve a break and maybe a glass of wine (or two), so why not check out one of the bars or clubs which are offering Easter themed treats.

Slug and Lettuce are offering 2-for-1 on special Easter drinks over the Easter bank holiday weekend. Propoganda Lincoln, Home nightclub and Quack are all holding Easter themed club nights during the holidays so let your hair down and have a boogie.

Easter treats
If you don’t fancy venturing out this Easter why not throw your own Easter party or egg hunt at home. The supermarkets are packed with eggs, sweet treats and decorations but why not stand out from the crowd with something different for your celebrations.

Bag a bargain at Poundland or Card Factory. Both are offering decorations, cards and Easter games for a fraction of the price of the big stores. From table decorations and crafts for the kids they have everything you need to create your perfect Easter weekend.

The high street is choker with pastels, fluffy bunny’s and spring decor. Paperchase, Flying Tiger and Clintons have a huge array of Easter decor or head up steep hill to find unique pieces made my local businesses in the quaint shops.

For an egg to stand out from the rest visit Thorntons and Hotel Chocolat which are both offering unique flavours, personalisation and allergen free alternatives for those with allergies.

Easter offers
Easter can get expensive so we have been on the look out for the best Easter offers around Lincoln.

Iceland are offering 10% when you spend over £25 over Easter. Shop in store to get your special offer receipt then shop, shop, shop. From a three bird roast for your Sunday dinner to party food for the hungry hunters, head to Iceland to get everything you need as well as a super saving.

The high street in Lincoln is full of shops running Spring sales over the Easter period. Monsoon is offering 20% off across all dresses so you can pick up that perfect picnic dress or something special for Easter Sunday. Marks and Spencers and River Island both have reductions across the store so why not treat yourself this Easter.
