Yarborough Leisure Centre will open a £1.1 million sports hub on Friday, benifiting athletes living in the city.

The Lincoln council funded project is due to open after several years of planning and development, and will feature plenty of environmentally friendly features and facilities. Newly appointed Lincoln City manager, Steve Tilson, has accepted an invite to officially open the venue.

The hub has been set up to allow local teams, clubs and schools top class facilities in which to safely practice sports. The council also hope that the addition of state-of-the-art changing rooms and sports pitches will encourage more people to take up a sport.

Jamie Freshwater spoke to Lincoln Councillor Alister Williams, about the development of the facility, and how it will benefit the community, as well as finding out a bit more about Friday’s opening event.
