Charities are such an important resource for a lot of people, especially in a time of crisis. Whether that’s help with housing, accessing mental health services, requiring a safe space to go or in need of emergency food, charities are constantly working hard to provide this ongoing support. Many places rely on donations in order to keep their services running, so if you’re thinking about donating, here are some local charities to think about.

  1. Shelter Lincolnshire

Shelter supports people who are struggling with their housing situation. On their website it says, “A home is a fundamental human need and a basic moral right, as vital as education or healthcare”. Millions of people in Britain are being denied the right to a safe home and are therefore being threatened with homelessness.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, many people living in rented accommodation are struggling to pay their rent. Reaching out to Shelter can provide people with the advice and resources they need in order to have a safe space to live.

If you would like to donate to Shelter Lincolnshire, you can visit their website https://england.shelter.org.uk/donate?reserved_appeal_code=20200318-IG-01

  1. Lincoln Foodbank

Many families across the UK rely on foodbanks when finances get especially tough. People who are in need of this service are referred to their local foodbank, where they are provided with nutritional emergency food.

Since the breakout of Covid-19, the demand for local foodbanks has soared. Some are finding it difficult to keep up with this demand and are in desperate need of donations. If you would like to donate food to Lincoln Foodbank there is more information on drop off points and shopping lists via this link https://lincoln.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-food/.

YMCA Lincolnshire announced back in March that the Nomad Centre was going to stay open throughout the crisis. They also decided to put measures in place to isolate people who are showing symptoms.

A spokesperson from the YMCA said, “Donations are more critical than ever”.
