Ultra White Collar Boxing is raising money for Cancer Research by hosting boxing matches around the UK.
Having raised over £24 million, for Charity since its first event in Derby in 2009. In 2013, it became a corporate partner of Cancer Research and one of its largest fundraisers.
Lincoln will be hosting one of the events at the Engine Shed on March 18 when beginner boxers will battle it out for charity at this black-tie event.
The competitors – all ordinary members of the public who have never fought before – will have eight weeks of intensive training taking place at Function First Martial Arts and Fitness in Lincoln.
Head coach at Function First Matthew Frost said: “It’s quite intense, it’s not how we run our classes. It’s eight weeks and it’s pretty full on. It’s a fight camp, it’s insane. The music is banging, and it’s like go go go.”
Howard Goldstraw, University of Lincoln philosophy student, said: “The sessions are really enjoyable, but they are really hard. It’s definitely been an intense time.”
The chance to take part in the charity event allows boxing beginners to get quality training in a safe environment whilst building confidence and improving physical fitness.
Head coach Mr Frost added: “It’s life changing, the camaraderie and experience they get. They’re treated like rock stars. The feedback is amazing and people have life changing experiences from it.”
