Darlington 1883 striker Amar Purewal managed to score his 50th goal for the club in a 7-1 victory over Harrogate Railway Athletic.

The striker, 24, who joined the club in 2012 scored a hat-trick in the match to continue his impressive scoring run this season.

He is the first player to reach 50 goals for the club since its reformation from Darlington F.C.

Purewal said: “I’m happy, I didn’t expect it when I first came to the club or to get anywhere near. So to be the first to get there, I’m obviously happy.”

The landmark came after just over two seasons at the club and was a surprise to Purewal.

“I didn’t have a clue to be honest. I didn’t expect to be scoring that many so soon so it’s good for me.”

The victory keeps the Quakers second in the table chasing Salford City who have two games in hand.
