Two hundred pupils from Cherry Willingham Community School are getting ready to take part in a torchlight procession through Lincoln tonight.

Young people from the school will be carrying Dutch lanterns through Lincoln and are said to be very excited about it.

The event was organised by Lincoln Business Improvement Group’s events and Michael Armstrong and Cherry Willingham Communty School’s music teacher Michael Flowers and celebrates late night Christmas shopping in Bailgate and the City Centre.

“The idea of taking the light up the hill is symbolic of showing that we are triumphing over the adversity of what we have been dealing with.  The light represents hope so we have hope for the future”.  Michael Flowers

It is hoped that many people will turn up to attend the publicity splash and to do some late night shopping.

People are also welcome to follow the procession up Steep Hill as it makes its way into Castle Hill where they can also do more shopping in the Bailgate area.
