Sports worldwide are seen through the eyes of the winners, the biggest teams, the best players, the biggest personalities and stars. There are teams all areas of sport, from football to darts, crown green bowls to formula one. But who are the most dominant? Which teams have won more games than anyone else? Which are at the top of pile when it comes to winning?

Here are the top 5 teams from the world of sport, with the highest win percentage since their establishment. Teams that have at least 500 games or 50 years of history.  (total games – losses & draws = total victories)

5. Kentucky Wildcats Men’s Basketball – 76.89% Win Percentage (2909 games)

Est: 1903      Sport: Basketball

Kentucky may be most famous for their finger lick’n good chicken. But no one in men’s college basketball can get a hand to the Kentucky Wildcats. Based in the University of Kentucky the Wildcats have created 12 Olympic gold medallists, 110 NBA players (National Basketball Association) and have been national champions 8 times since their first in 1948.

4. The All Blacks – 77.41% (580 games)

Est: 1905      Sport: Rugby Union

The All Blacks. The Pride of New Zealand. The name conjures up images of the black kit, the Haka before every match. And the unstoppable nature of this island nations rugby team is legendary throughout sport. The All Blacks have only lost 7 World Cup games but have only been crowned champions 3 times out of the 9 total championships.

3. US Women’s National Soccer Team – 78.68% (671 games)

Est: 1985      Sport: Football (Soccer)

A sport not associated with the United States, yet the women’s game could not be stronger. With a team with an unstoppable winging ability the ‘Stars and Stripes’ have lost 1 game since 2017, winning the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France. With a total of 6 losses over the space of 8 Olympics and Women’s World Cups, they are most dominant football team on the planet.

2. Tennessee Lady Volunteers Basketball Team – 81.09% (1582 games)

Est: 1960      Sport: Basketball

The University of Tennessee in Knoxville is home the Tennessee Lady Volunteers Basketball, the most successful domestic team in the world. With its first season in 1974/75, the ‘Lady Vols’ as they are more commonly known, have lost less than 300 games in their history. Sadly, their record may be under fire as in the past 5 seasons form has really dropped off for the Tennessee outfit.

1. USA Basketball Men’s National Team – 88.29% (376 games)

Est: 1938      Sport: Basketball

Having won gold in 15 of the 18 Olympic games they have entered, it’s fair to say that they are the most dominant sports team on the planet. With 38 Medals to their name, including 27 Gold medals, it is hard to come close to this record. During their Olympic career they have medalled at everyone they have entered, having only lost 5 games since the 1936 Berlin Games.

Have we missed anybody? Why not let us know who you think is the most successful team of all time is in the comments.
