Fabio Capello’s England are among the thirty-two teams awaiting the World Cup draw in South Africa which takes place today.

By the end of the draw in Cape Town all the nations will know who they will face in the initial group stage of the tournament.

England are seeded in the draw which means they will avoid facing the likes of Brazil, Spain, Germany and Argentina but due to the fact that Portugal and France qualified through the play-off system we still could face one of those teams. England will be looking to avoid the formidable group of death which always crops up during the draw.

The draw is made up of four pots of eight teams and eight groups of four countries will be drawn from these pots which are split up by continents. Worst case scenario England could draw USA, Ivory Coast and Portugal who have knocked England out in the last two Tournaments.

Captained by John Terry in South Africa the three lions will be hoping for a group with the likes of North Korea, Algeria and Slovenia. But obviously to become world champions England will have to beat the worlds best at some stage of the competition but an easier group stage would have its advantages.

The top two teams in each group will progress to the knockout stage of the tournament. When the draw is made we will let you know England’s fate and post the full draw online here.
