Lincolnshire County Council is advising members of the public to avoid a Lincoln Street after a sinkhole appeared out of nowhere.
It was discovered on Hermit Street on Friday 29th March, and access has been blocked via Portland Street.
Toni Colley, who posted the sinkhole in a local Facebook group, said “I reported it on Friday 29th March at 9:45PM after going down it (Hermit Street) in my car when I came home from work.”
A spokesperson for Anglian Water has said “In order to keep our teams and other road users safe while we work, we’ve needed to close Hermit Street, and we’re diverting traffic and pedestrians as needed.”
Another member of the local community, Daniel Clarke said “I walked past the sinkhole on my route home a few days ago, it during the night but there were no lights or signs showing that it was there, this was when I became particularly concerned as someone could have gotten seriously hurt.”

The sinkhole has occurred at an important time for Lincoln County Council, after it was announced that they will receive £262 million in transport funding, pledging to make roads safer for the community by improving lighting and filling holes such as this one.
