Christmas is definitely a time for indulge and a period when many of us jump off the diet bandwagon to treat ourselves to some guilty pleasures. 

Whether it’s roast turkey, mince pies or Christmas cake everbody’s bound to be stuffing their faces on Christmas Day.

However, maybe we’re starting to get carried away with the festive fun and over indulge ourselves.

Recent research has found that children are likely to consume 6,000 calories on Christmas Day alone.

Health experts are warning that gorging over the Christmas period can lead to weight gain that stays with us forever.

Meanwhile, other reports have claimed that the image of an overweight Father Christmas swigging brandy and eating mince pies is promoting obesity, rather than a healthy lifestyle.

But the secret to staying healthy over Christmas is to control portion sizes and have everything in moderation, as well as taking part in regular exercise.
