All aboard the poppy express

Stagecoach Companies press release

To show gratitude for the actions of our armed forces, the bus and train company “Stagecoach” have offered free transport on their lines for current military personnel.

This gesture of gratitude is to help numerous Veterans enter the city of London to pay their respects to comrades, fallen and present.

Many of these veterans go to London to pay their respect at the two unmarked graves, but for some doing this is not always easy.

Because of this difficulty Stagecoach Group’s bus and rail companies are helping to ease this transport burden by offering free travel to any military personnel to “help them honour and remember Service personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty.”

Although this offer of gratitude is a grand gesture, it is not a shared ideal by all public transport companies.

Govia, a major train company have declined to join this gesture under the belief that they are following the general consensus of other train companies.

A spokesperson for Govia has stated that “Our conductors would be making announcements on Poppy Day encouraging passengers to make a contribution.”

The royal British legion have been helping support our soldiers, past and present, for many years now and this year is no different.
