This weekend will see many of the attractions in Lincoln and the surrounding area open their doors for free, as part of the Discover Lincolnshire Weekend.

The occasion comes as Prime Minister David Cameron hailed Lincolnshire as one of the jewels in Britain’s crown earlier today.

The annual event invites people to explore what the county has to offer, and open to the public will be historical sites such as the Cathedral and Castle.

However, there’s plenty more to go and see further afield.

Michele Sims, Manager of the Lincoln Visitor Information Centre, details some of the attractions that people can visit and explains why Lincolnshire is a unique county in the video below.

Further information about how to get involved with Discover Lincolnshire can be found at the Visit Lincolnshire website.
