Lincolnshire Police are urging cyclists to secure their bikes.

Police say that the theft of bicycles is an ongoing problem in Lincolnshire and thieves are going to greater lengths to steal. In one recent burglary the side wall of a shed was removed to steal a bike.

“Offenders may follow the owners of cycles to their home addresses and return later in hours of darkness to burgle sheds and garages.

Lincoln Cycle Crime Officer, Matt Roberts said: “We have recently seen thieves remove walls from sheds, damage garage doors by prising them up and more commonly, simply entering unlocked sheds and garages stealing bikes worth thousands of pounds.”

He added: “A shed alarm is a cheap and effective way to protect your shed or garage and it will immediately deter thieves. External security lights are also extremely effective.”

Lincolnshire Police have issued photos of a recently stolen bike (above). If you recognise the bike then contact the police.
