Britain needs to go ‘on a diet’

The Government is urging food manufactures in the UK to cut down the number of calories in their products in order to tackle obesity.

Supermarkets, takeaways and fast food restaurants have been told to reduce the amount of calories seen in crisps, ready meals and other fast food items.

Meanwhile, Public Health England and other health care professionals are setting health calorie recommendations for meals and promoting a balanced diet.

A balanced diet should include a large amount of healthy food such as fruit, vegetables and meat with only a small amount of sugar and salt.
