Chinese takeaways contain high levels of salt, campaigners have said

Chinese takeaways and ready meals should carry health warnings, campaigners have said.

Action on Salt have said that the cuisine contains high levels of salt, especially in noodles and soy sauce-based dishes.

Your daily recommended amount of salt is 6 grams. The average Chinese dish contains around 3 grams of salt. Add egg fried rice to your meal and it could increase the amount by up to 5 grams.

Beef and Black Bean Sauce contains more than your daily allowance and a portion of prawn crackers contains one third of your daily salt intake
