A crowdfunding campaign is underway to raise money to restore the North West Turret of Lincoln Cathedral.

The historic building, which is over 900 years old, was hit by some hard frost in 2009 causing large stones to break away from the turrets, putting public safety at risk.

In order to restore the structure to its former glory, work costing £2.5m is required to protect the future of the West Front.

The fundraising project is being led on www.crowdfunder.co.uk under the title ‘More Than A Bike Shed’, and will continue until November 12.

The work on the North West Turret is being carried out by Lincoln Cathedral’s Works Department and is expected to finish in 2016.
