GENERAL ELECTION EXIT POLL RESULTS

The exit poll numbers in full:

Conservatives: 368 (set to win majority) 

Labour: 191 (predicted to lose 71 seats)

Scottish National Party: 55

Liberal Democrats: 13

Brexit Party: 0

Greens: 1

Other: 22

The exit poll was conducted at 144 polling stations by Ipsos Mori which included 22790 interviews. In the exit poll voters are asked to fill in a mock ballot paper as they leave to indicate how they voted. In 2017, the exit poll correctly predicted a hung parliament.   

This is the UK’s third general election in under 5 years and it is the first one to take place in December since 1923. 

The pound has increased from $1.3162 to above $1.34 meaning it has increased by more than 2%.

Tory Party Chairman James Cleverly said: “I’ve always felt polls should be taken with a degree of caution… we want to see if it plays out”. 

Sky’s election analyst, Michael Thrasher said: “Jeremy Corbyn will go down as one of the worst leaders in Labour history”. 

In 2017, Karen Lee won the Lincoln seat however this was only by 1538 votes.
