How Old is Too Old to Become a Mum?

Figures show that 19% of all women having children in the UK today are over the age of forty. This has increased dramatically, as in the late 1980’s, this figure was about 5%.

There have been serious health concerns, with experts saying that the child will have an increased risk of autism, as well as low birth weigh and Down syndrome.

So with these dangerous risks, why are women doing it? Some reasons suggested include a longer life expectancy, and women wanting to establish a career before being a mum.
